My practice has moved online due to the current situation regarding Covid-19. Sessions will take place using Zoom video conferencing, a secure online video platform which allows for face-to-face contact. I welcome new enquiries with a view to meeting in person as and when this option becomes available.
About the Therapy
I help people deal with anxiety or depression by looking at how past events and relationships have an effect on the present.
You may be able to point to a specific reason for why you want to start counselling, or you may have a sense that things do not feel right without being able to put your finger on why. This feeling could have developed recently, or may have been with you a long time, it may come and go, or it may feel as if it never ends.
Making the decision to start counselling can elicit feelings from fear to excitement, from anxiety to relief, and may even be all of those things at the same time.
The way I work is to create a confidential, compassionate and non-judgemental environment, in which together we can explore your inner world and think about how your problems might be made sense of and understood. It is not my role to impose my own views on you, or to reduce your experiences to simplified explanations. Rather, it is for us to work together to think about how you understand yourself, your history, relationships and motivations without resorting to technical jargon.
An initial meeting is a chance for us to get to know each other, discuss what you want from the therapy and consider how best to support you with the help you need.
I see clients in both the Holloway Road and Highgate areas, well serviced by buses and the tube.
I have worked with vulnerable people for many years, at the Maytree Respite Centre in Finsbury Park and Highgate Counselling Centre, from individuals with suicidal thoughts to those living with other issues including anxiety, depression, marital issues, trauma and abuse.
I am a BACP-registered Psychodynamic Counsellor, having trained at Highgate Counselling Centre. In addition to this, I have an MSc in Psychoanalytic Studies from UCL as well as a BSc (Hons) in Psychology.
Open-ended Psychodynamic Counselling
With open-ended counselling, you have the chance to explore your issues more deeply and we can understand together how the picture of your life and history fits together.
Time-limited Psychodynamic Counselling
In time-limited counselling, we are able to focus on a particular issue which is currently troubling you. The sessions will be structured in a way that means this focus will be referred back to throughout the duration of the therapy.
If you would like to arrange an initial meeting, please get in touch using the form below and I will contact you with my availability. Alternatively, please call on the phone number below and leave a message with your name and contact details. There is no charge for the initial meeting. Ongoing weekly sessions are £50
